Dream Come True: Could Frontier Developments Be Building a Disney Theme Park Sim?

bekir September 3, 2026 3 min read 4 views

For decades, theme park management sims have fueled our fantasies of crafting the ultimate amusement park, keeping guests happy, and designing roller coasters that don’t immediately launch riders into disaster. Now, it seems that fantasy might be about to get a serious dose of Disney magic.

Frontier Developments Partners with Disney

Frontier Developments announced on Wednesday a partnership with Disney to develop and publish a new game based on Disney’s “iconic portfolio of IP.” While the title, platforms, and release window remain under wraps, Frontier’s history strongly suggests we’re talking about a brand-new theme park management sim built around one of the most beloved entertainment brands in the world. Imagine having complete control over your own Magic Kingdom, Epcot, or even all Disney resorts!

What to Expect from a Disney Park Sim

The announcement doesn’t explicitly state that this new game will be a Disney theme park sim, but Frontier’s track record speaks volumes. Their franchises include Planet Coaster, Planet Zoo, and Jurassic World Evolution, all of which demonstrate their expertise in the management simulation genre.

Jo Cooke, CEO of Frontier Developments, emphasized that this collaboration aligns with the company’s strategy of building “world-class creative management simulation game franchises.” She added, “Our mission with this game is to connect a passionate creative community of players with one of the world’s most iconic and beloved brands, and I can’t wait to see what our talented teams will create with this amazing opportunity.”

The Genre is Ripe for Disney

A Disney-themed management game would arrive at a perfect time for the genre. Atari recently announced RollerCoaster Tycoon Wonderworks, a new mainline entry in the classic PC park-building series, planned for Steam early access this winter. Developed by Springloaded, the studio behind Let’s Build a Zoo, this release brings RollerCoaster Tycoon back after a long hiatus.

Furthermore, simulation games have been embracing younger and more playful audiences lately, ranging from cozy management games to family-friendly city builders like Lego’s take on Cities: Skylines. This broader trend makes a Disney collaboration feel incredibly natural: a management game that could combine approachable park-building with instantly recognizable worlds and characters.

For now, Frontier and Disney are keeping the details tightly under wraps. However, given Disney’s vast catalog of characters, worlds, and theme park history, this project has the potential to be the closest thing yet to an official Disney park-building sandbox. We’re eagerly awaiting more information!
