The hype surrounding Grand Theft Auto 6 is palpable. With a projected release in 2026, it’s poised to be one of the biggest gaming launches ever. Naturally, this has fueled an endless stream of rumors and “leaks,” most of which turned out to be pure fabrication. However, some of those whispers from the past were surprisingly accurate.
The GameRoll Prophecy
One intriguing case involves Twitter user GameRoll, who in June 2025, shared details allegedly sourced from a “friend of a Rockstar developer.” While not a direct source, this connection provided some credibility to the claims. Initially met with skepticism, many of GameRoll’s predictions have now been confirmed by official trailers and interviews, including:
- The return of the 6-star wanted level
- NPC interactions reminiscent of Red Dead Redemption
- A rectangular GPS with pink waypoints
- Jason’s ability to briefly slow down time
- NPC reactions to visible weapons
- Gore and dismemberment as gameplay features
- Weight gain and loss mechanics
- Limited weapon capacity requiring storage in a trunk
- Chapter-based structure similar to Red Dead Redemption 2
While some other leaks circulating, particularly those on Reddit, appear dubious (claims of three large islands or over 1,000 enterable locations seem exaggerated), GameRoll’s predictions from last year are undeniably compelling. The fact that so many details initially dismissed as fan-made wishlists turned out to be true is a testament to the power of inside information.
Of course, not every online post claiming insider knowledge should be taken at face value. But it’s fascinating to revisit years of GTA 6 rumors and separate fact from fiction. It highlights the challenge of discerning genuine leaks from elaborate hoaxes in the ever-churning rumor mill surrounding highly anticipated games.
