Ubisoft Closes Multiple Studios Amidst Deepening Crisis

In a stark reminder of the current economic climate, Ubisoft is announcing the closure of its Winnipeg and Belgrade studios, while reorienting its Barcelona operations to concentrate solely on the Rainbow Six franchise. According to VGC, these moves could result in up to 380 job losses across the company.

Further internal restructuring will affect Ubisoft’s Global Publishing division, where roles will be trimmed company‑wide.

This announcement follows a string of cost‑cutting measures at the French publisher, which has pledged to slash its fixed expenses by €200 million (approximately $230 million) over the next two years. The company has already canceled several projects and laid off hundreds of employees this year alone.
