According to Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick, the popular WWE 2K series has the potential to significantly expand its audience, potentially doubling or even tripling its current size.
The latest addition to the series, WWE 2K26, received critical acclaim and Take-Two reported a 20% increase in “recurrent consumer spending” compared to the previous year’s game.
In an interview with IGN, Zelnick emphasized that this expansion could be achieved if developer Visual Concepts maintains its innovative approach with each annual release.
“We’re very proud of the Metacritic score, we’re proud of how the title performed,” he said. “The team over there is just crushing it. So we’re thrilled to be in business with TKO and WWE.”
The creators of WWE 2K26, Visual Concepts, have expressed their commitment to enhancing the game’s quality and delivering more to consumers. According to them, they are always striving for improvement and never settle for mediocrity. They believe that arrogance is detrimental to continued success, and they aim to make the title significantly larger if it continues to delight players and offer unexpected yet brand-consistent novelties.
In a review by VGC, WWE 2K26 was hailed as the best entry in the series so far. However, it was noted that while it built upon its predecessor, there was still room for improvement regarding innovation.
Despite the initial controversy surrounding its new reversal system and the persistent specter of microtransactions in MyFaction, the latest offering from Take-Two’s WWE 2K series developer Visual Concepts promises to enhance the overall gaming experience by incorporating a host of quality-of-life features.
