PS5’s “Until Dawn 2” Has Been in Development for 4 Years—What to Expect

UK studio Firesprite has been quietly developing a sequel to the hit horror title Until Dawn for at least four years, as revealed by Stranger Things star Dacre Montgomery, who is set to lend his voice to the new project.

Montgomery took to Instagram to confirm that he joined the PlayStation 5‑exclusive effort in 2022, noting that the game was already in pre‑production well before his arrival.

Following the 2023 release of Horizon: Call of the Mountain, Firesprite’s next major title is slated for launch in 2027, marking a significant addition to the PS5 lineup.

Montgomery expressed genuine admiration for the team’s dedication, stating, “I’ve been floored by the commitment of those who’ve poured their lives into this world for the last many, many years, and I am so excited it’s coming to a console near you.”

While details about the game are still scant, it has been revealed that the upcoming title will center around a ghost hunting team hailing from a popular paranormal YouTube channel named Dead True. The crew, having secured a deal with a television network, embark on an expedition to a lush tropical island for their inaugural high-budget production. It is here that they uncover evidence suggesting the supernatural may be more than mere stagecraft, which propelled them to fame.

This intriguing premise raises questions about the potential impact on Until Dawn, a game developed by Supermassive Games. One concern could be that the market might have moved past Until Dawn due to an abundance of Dark Pictures titles released by the original developer in recent years. However, it is worth noting that despite numerous attempts, Supermassive has yet to surpass its groundbreaking work on Until Dawn.
