In a triumphant turn of events for Yacht Club Games, the success of their latest release, Mina The Hollower, appears to have solidified the indie developer’s future. According to an update following its launch last week, the game has surpassed expectations, selling 300,000 copies within its first three days on the market.
The multi-platform release of Mina The Hollower, which is now available on Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, PC, PlayStation, and Xbox platforms, has undoubtedly contributed to this impressive sales figure. Speaking to Bloomberg, studio co-founder and director Sean Velasco expressed his gratitude for the strong sales, stating that they would enable the developer to maintain operations without any significant cuts or external investment in the near future.
In an interview last year, Velasco expressed that 200,000 sales would be “really, really great,” while a target of 500,000 sales was considered “golden.” Given his ambitious goal of selling one million copies, it seems Velasco may have underestimated the appeal of Mina The Hollower to gamers.
Having successfully launched Mina The Hollower, Yacht Club Games is now focusing on promoting the title, addressing some technical issues, and making necessary patches to enhance Mina’s journey. We will promptly inform you of any substantial updates regarding the game’s sales performance.
