[encrypted] is a short-form abstract roguelike. Unlike most roguelikes, however, in [encrypted] all the game’s text is disguised via a complex system of encryption.
The game can (and indeed should) be played without cracking the encryption, but for those who are able to crack the code, the game provides hooks to add in custom decryption routines.
The game incorporates an elaborate set of synthesizers and audio effects in order to generate all its audio procedurally.
Paying $10 or more will get you the 12-page “tom’s a-cold” zine, which covers multiple methods of encrypting text and various techniques for cracking encrypted text.
For $15 or more you can get a physical, hand-bound copy of the zine.
Note: if ordering a physical copy of the zine, please make sure you enter an address on the game’s download page so I know where to send it, thanks 🙂
